April 2: Funding our Vision: Local Meeting Finances and NEYM Priorities Budget Day
This event is an opportunity for meetings to compare notes on budgeting, funding our spiritual growth/outreach, and ensuring that our money supports the leadings important to us. It is an opportunity for local meetings to share their vision of Yearly Meeting budget priorities with NEYM staff and committees.

Seeking Friendly Singers: The Fire & the Hammer at NEYM Sessions
We are seeking Friends who would like to take part in a chorus to perform this piece for our annual sessions this August. This is an extraordinary choral piece created & performed by members of the Leaveners, the British Quaker arts fellowship. It chronicles George Fox’s own personal spiritual journey from seeker to a central figure in the nascent Religious Society of Friends.

April 22 & 23: Call to Witness & Day of Discernment
As an outgrowth of the 2010 Session Minute of Sending Forth, this weekend is a search for how God is leading New England Yearly Meeting to deepen our spirituality and its expression in our testimonies. It is an opportunity to stand with others in witness, to share our journeys and our differences.

Jan. 20–26: Conversations with Marge Abbott
Several Friends Meetings in New England will be hosting Quaker author Margery Abbott for a reading from and discussion about her new book To Be Broken and Tender: A Quaker Theology for Today.

Committee Day: January 29 at Hartford (CT) MM
Committee Day is an opportunity for committees to meet, as well as a chance for Friends to make connections between committees through worship, fellowship, and shared business.

FY12 Priorities Process Budget
This is the third year that NEYM has engaged in a Priorities Process for discernment around the annual budget. The Priorities Process Budget is being developed by Jonathan Vogel-Borne (YM Secretary) and Jerry Sazama (Development Committee), with input from NEYM Staff, Coordinating & Advisory and Personnel Committees, now ready for circulation to Permanent Board, Committees & local meetings.

Ramallah Friends School Director visits New England
Oct 25 – Nov 7: New England Friends have a special opportunity to meet Joyce Aljouny, Director of the Ramallah Friends School (RFS). Founded in 1869 by Vassalboro (ME) Friends Sybil and Eli Jones, the School is currently operated by Friends United Meeting.

The Yearly Meeting welcomes its three newest staff members: Nia Koch, Young Friends/Young Adult Friends Coordinator, Jeff Hipp, Communications Director/Office Manager, and Delia Windwalker, Interim Office Assistant.

 

New Working paper on "Illustrative Experiences" from the Faith and Practice Revision Committee!
Chapter 1: Illustrative Experiences of Friends is now posted and will be available at Sessions in August. Comments on the working paper are due February 1, 2011. Comments on Chapter 3: Corporate Discernment in Meeting for Business. Comments on Chapter 4: The Meaning, Understanding and Use of Testimonies and Chapter 11: General Advices and Queries are still welcome. These texts can be downloaded from the Faith and Practice Revision Committee website and be freely photocopied.
