New England Yearly Meeting is looking for a new Yearly Meeting Secretary, to start in the fall of 2012.
Candidates should be members of the Religious Society of Friends and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of Friends traditions and practices, administrative experience, and excellent pastoral/communication skills.
Summary Job Description:
The Yearly Meeting Secretary is the highest level administrator in NEYM. This is a full-time position with benefits. A minimum of one day a week will be spent at the Yearly Meeting Office in Worcester, MA. Other times may involve travel or work off-site.
Responsibilities include:

Supervisory. The YM Secretary is supervisor for other YM full-time and part-time staff, which includes: oversight of responsibilities and planning, evaluations, hiring, and benefits administration

Budget. The YM secretary is involved in all levels of preparation of the NEYM budget, with particular responsibility for staff costs. With multiple inputs, the secretary prepares a priority list for potential changes. Through the year, the secretary tracks expenses and works with the Finance committee and the treasurer to recommend modifications to the budget.

Sessions Planning. The YM Secretary has primary responsibility for the physical arrangement for the Annual Sessions in August, which typically host up to 800 Friends. Sessions planning overall, consumes approximately 20% of the work load.

Spiritual Leadership. While most of the stated responsibilities revolve around administrative tasks, the YM Secretary is often before groups of Quakers, who look to him/her for spiritual grounding and leadership.

Pastoral. In conjunction with Yearly Meeting Ministry and Counsel, the YM secretary works to maintain an awareness of the spiritual condition of the YM as a whole, and of its Monthly Meetings. The secretary may be requested to help with specific areas of nurture or of conflict resolution.

Job begins - Fall 2012. There is some flexibility here, and a desire to have some overlap with the current secretary.
