Eco Art Williamson Publishing, 1993, 158 pages Subjects: Teaching , Nature , Art Grades: Pre-K, K-2, 3-5 Review: "Earth-Friendly Art and Craft Experiences for 3- to 9-year-olds." Using trash, making your own art and craft supplies, growing things, wreaths, weaving -- so many ideas, so little time! There's bound to be something you can use in a lesson. -CMJ |

Experiencing the Bible with Children Abingdon Press, 1991, 137 pages Grades: Review: This book, an excellent guide for teachers, is divided into three parts : The Bible, The Children, and The Methods. The Bible section looks briefly, but very adequately, at the development of the Bible and lists descriptions of how one might view it. The author, who believes that the Bible can become real to our children, talks about "teaching the Bible experientially." The Methods of "feeling into the Bible", "meeting with the Bible", and "responding out of the Bible" are "Creative Drama, Story Telling, and Dance", "Dialogue" and "Deed", which are carefully explained. I recommend the book as a good reference for the Christian Education library -- and hope teachers read it. -JAK |
