Proposed Work Plan for the Entire Yearly Meeting

I. Overall Yearly Meeting Mission

To be determined (see minute 2009-42, regarding NEYM vision/mission, or go to the link describing the Yearly Meeting in the 1985 NEYM Faith and Practice)

II. Suggested Program Areas and Goals

A. Communication/Witness

Goals: Serve as a collective voice for New England Quakers in the wider world, to help Friends more clearly articulate our common faith to the world; Renew our Spirit-based, prophetic witness for peace and justice; Release more Friends, especially younger Friends, to travel in the public ministry; Maintain affiliations with other Quaker organizations.

Committees/Groups (listed alphabetically): Correspondence, Earthcare Witness, Ecumenical & Interfaith Relations, Faith and Practice Revision, Friends General Conference, Friends United Meeting, Friends World Committee for Consultation, Peace & Social Concerns, Publications & Communications, Puente de Amigos, Racial, Social & Economic Justice, United Society of Friends Women.

Staff (listed by order of responsibility): Communications Director, Yearly Meeting Secretary, Archivist, Database Programmer (contract worker), Info Technology Assistance (contract worker), Web Servant (volunteer)

B. Field/Pastoral Work

Goals: Support and strengthen our constituent meetings through shared resources, information, staff visits and religious education programming for all ages; Increase the vitality of our quarterly meetings; Encourage Friends to engage more deeply with one another, experimenting with new forms.

Committees/Groups: Aging, Christian Education, Ministry & Counsel, New England Friends Home.

Staff: Yearly Meeting Secretary, Christian Education Coordinator, Friends Camp Director, YF-YAF Coordinator, Jr. High YM Coordinator, Jr. YM Coordinator, Communications Director.

C. Administration

Goal: Encourage and empower NEYM clerks, staff, and committees to be more faithful, more caring, more efficient, and more transparent in all that we do.

Committees/Groups: Archives, Board of Managers, Clerk’s Nominating, Coordinating & Advisory, Development, Finance, Nominating, Office Facilities, Personnel.

Staff: Yearly Meeting Secretary, Communications Director, Accounts Manager, Archivist, Database Programmer (contract worker), Info Technology Assistance (contract worker), Treasurer (volunteer).

D. Youth Program

Goal: Help our children and young adults develop a Quaker identity and a sense of Quaker community by providing age-approrpriate opportunities for communication and witness.

Committees/Groups: Friends Camp, JYM, JHYM, YF, YAF, Moses Brown School, Student Loan, Youth Programs.

Staff: Friends Camp Director, YF-YAF Coordinator, Christian Education Coordinator, Jr. High YM Coordinator, Jr. YM Coordinator, Friends Camp Staff, Sessions Staff (volunteers).

E. Sessions

Goal: Provide opportunities for Quakers from various meetings throughout New England to worship together, to play together, to work together, to learn from one another, and to "promote Christian faith, love, and practice." (1985 NEYM Faith and Practice).

Committees/Groups: Committee Days, Permanent Board, Sessions Committee

Staff: Yearly Meeting Secretary, Communications Director, All Youth Coordinators, Accounts Manager, Database Programmer (contract worker), Sessions Staff (volunteers), Treasurer (volunteer).
