NEYM 2011 Sessions Epistle: To All Friends Everywhere
Our session at Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island, August 6–11, 2011, brought us closer both to our past and our future. As a prelude, we met at the Great Meetinghouse in Newport, Rhode Island where Yearly Meeting convened 1699–1905. We celebrated the end of our 350th anniversary at the same time as we focused on the impact human society has on the future of the earth.

NEYM Presiding Clerk | What I love about our Yearly Meeting is our willingness to seek truth faithfully together, knowing that we can and will hear God though we struggle with different languages and perspectives, and to put our faith into practice both individually and collectively as we act in the world.

Next Steps for Quakers in the Transition Movement
Steven Chase, Putney (VT) Monthly Meeting | NEYM's Earthcare Ministries Committee has now launched Quakers In Transition, an online project directed by Ruah Swennerfelt and myself to help Friends begin to transition away from fossil fuel dependency by promoting creative community projects that increase local resilience and well-being while also lowering local energy use.
