The Peace and Social Concerns Committee

The Peace and Social Concerns Committee supports individual members with specific concerns and gathers information and makes it available to friends and attenders on issues of particular interest to the Society of Friends. It focuses concerns as concrete proposals for action and helps the meeting act to influence public policy toward the fulfillment of Christian principles, thus contributing to an enlightened and vigorous public opinion. One way these principles are translated into deed and action is through corporate giving, offering financial support to selected organizations or projects external to the responsiblities of the Meeting.

The committee evaluates appeals for financial support referred by the Meeting for further study; presents recommendations to the Meeting as to the disbursement of those funds budgeted as Corporate Giving; and arranges for the disbursement of funds and approved by the Meeting to those appeals approved.
